What should a step app share?
Understand personal step totals, private groups and step data sharing in Steps.Team.
A step count and a location history are different kinds of information. Before using a walking app, check what it reads, what it sends and who can see it.
Your own steps
Steps.Team reads step totals for personal progress. It does not request your location or display walking routes. Exact readings stay on your device by default. If you enable private website steps, we save your latest count for your signed-in view. Other members cannot see it; the service owner can access it for support and administration. Turning the option off removes the saved count. Saved counts expire within 24 hours; backup copies may remain under the recovery retention policy described in our privacy notice.
Your group’s progress
Group progress uses rounded contributions from completed days. It is not a live view of someone walking. Private groups require an invitation and a matching workplace email.
Your screen is a separate choice
A widget makes your steps easier to see, including for someone looking at your screen. Add one only if you are comfortable with that. Check its update time; a widget snapshot may be older than your current total.
